Rip Rap – Crushed Stone

Riprap is a type of crushed stone (baseball to basketball sized rock) that works well when used to stabilize slopes to prevent soil erosion, create drainage channels or used as a backfill for retaining walls.

Around the house, it can be used to create drainage channels and shore up raised flower beds.

How Much Rock Do I Need?

Multiply the length by width by depth of the area you want to cover.

For cubic yards, divide the total cubic feet by 27.

Because one cubic yard of gravel is equal to 1.13 tons, you can multiply your total cubic yards by 1.13 to convert this measurement to tons.

How much does a cubic yard weigh?
